About us

We have been out in the field digging dinosaurs for over 20 years. In all that time, finding an almost complete Daspletosaur was the most exciting fossil we have ever found- in the badlands of Alberta. We have been digging in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah and even upstate New York. Staying in tents or cheap motels, in 99 degree temperature or waking up to ice on the walls of the tent- we dig.

"We" includes famous paleontologists, not so famous paleontologists, amateurs, a college professor, an optometrist, a museum curator, a fossil preparator, a prospector and others.

We are still working on the 2023 Summer excavation and will update soon.

My Daspletosaur

The Author- Stuart Plotkin

I started my career in the medical field. After 20 years I realized it was time to work at what I loved. I never grew out of my interest of dinosaurs but what really got me started was a book by Robert Bakker- The Dinosaur Heresies.

It might be a bit dated now but when it was released it changed everything. No longer were dinosaur considered stupid, slow, lumbering failures. Some were quite bright, all could move well on land and they survived from about 225 million years ago to 66 million years. That's a span of almost 160 million years. 160,000,000 years. They were NOT failures. Besides there are still dinosaurs today. Birds are considered dinosaurs!

Now I teach Dinosaur Paleontology at Stony Brook University and am out most summers "digging."
